Recently, Whatsapp has announced a new feature of Disappearing Messages. Finally, the new feature is out for all the users. The feature is now live in India and is available on Android, iOS, desktop, KaiOS, and web.
Disappearing Message Feature on your WhatsApp
The Whatsapp Disappearing Messages feature is available for everyone, but if you want to use it, then you can enable the feature or can disable it. If you enable the feature for a particular chat, then all the messages, including media files, will be automatically deleted after seven days. This feature can also be used on Whatsapp group. However, in the Groups, only the admin can enable or disable the disappearing messages option.
The Facebook-owned messaging App has announced the feature in a blog post, saying,
“WhatsApp messages often live on our phones forever. While it’s great to hold onto memories from friends and family, most of what we send doesn’t need to be everlasting. Our goal is to make conversations on WhatsApp feel as close to in-person as possible, which means they shouldn’t have to stick around forever. That’s why we’re excited to introduce the option to use disappearing messages on WhatsApp.”
As the company has announced that the messages will disappear after seven days if you turn on the disappear message option. To which the company says,
“We’re starting with 7 days because we think it offers peace of mind that conversations aren’t permanent while remaining practical so you don’t forget what you were chatting about. The shopping list or store address you received a few days ago will be there while you need it, and then disappear after you don’t.”
So, now let us check out how can we use the “Disappearing Messages” feature on Whatsapp.
