The new list of Chinese-owned apps contains a total of 275 apps which are being reviewed for security threats. The government is checking whether the data of these apps are collected and shared with the Chinese government or not.

According to the latest reports, PUBG and other Chinese apps can be banned in India.

Government has selected a list of 275 Chinese apps, which are being monitored for users privacy. As per the reports, these 275 apps can be banned anytime in India.

According to the reports on Economic Times, the list of 275 Chinese apps are:

  • The most popular gaming app, PUBG Mobile
  • Ludo World,
  • AliExpress by Alibaba
  • ULike
  • Resso
  • Zili
  • Capcut
  • FaceU
  • Meitu
  • LBE Tech
  • 14 MI apps by Xiaomi

A person from the Government has said that these Chinese apps can be banned soon or might not be banned. He said, “The government may ban all, some or none from the list,”

Last month, the Government banned 59 Chinese apps, including TikTok. And now, it looks like 275 more Chinese apps can be banned soon.

As per the reports, the Government officials have responded on this matter and said,

“Some of these apps have been red-flagged due to security reasons while others have been listed for violation of data sharing and privacy concerns.”

Senior Government officials said,

“A set of rules or defined procedures may take time but is the correct process to go about it in the future.”

And the official ministry of electronics and information technology (MeitY) said,

“There is a process involved, there is a committee in place for such ban orders. If there is such an order, then MeitY will act.”

If you know, then PUBG Mobile game has 17.5 crore users, and TikTok had 20 crore users in India.

The Chinese apps which are now monitoring are 14 MI apps by Xiaomi, including Capcut, and FaceU. And the other Chinese internet and tech majors are like Meitu, LBE Tech, Perfect Corp, Sina Corp, Netease Games, Yoozoo Global are also present. In the list, there are companies like Helsinki-based Supercell.

Last week, Zili and Snack Video came in the top 10 list of Google Play Store. These two Chinese apps have replaced TikTok.
