One of the most popular online streaming apps, Netflix has rolled out a new feature that automatically downloads the shows based on what users watch. The feature is called “Downloads for You” which is now available for Android users globally on the mobile app.
Netflix Brings Automatically Download Feature: Here’s How it Works
This new feature will auto-download shows and movies based on their viewing history. As the feature is only for mobile users, they can cast the downloaded shows on any nearby TV. As per the reports, the feature will be soon available for iOS also.
The company brought this feature as an expansion of its Smart Downloads feature that was launched three years ago.
At the time of the announcement, the company said,
Today we’re launching Downloads For You, a new feature that automatically downloads recommended shows or movies to your mobile device based on your tastes. Whether you’re a comedy fan stuck on a long car ride or a rom com lover without internet, we do the work so there is always something new waiting to entertain and delight you.
How to use Downloads For You Feature on Netflix?
Enable the feature by following the given steps:
- Open the app and go to the Downloads tab
- Turn on the Downloads for You toggle
- Select the amount of content you want to download like (1GB, 3GB, 5GB)
- The more space you allow, the more recommendations Netflix will download.
If you are an Android user and not being able to see the feature, then don’t worry, you will see it soon as the feature is rolled out today only.
As per the reports, the feature will download the first few episodes of the show and help users to get started.
The app will decide what the users want to watch by going through their watching history. This feature is much helpful than just displaying suggestions for the users. The Downloads for You feature will be beneficial for those who want to access the content offline.
Netflix has also revealed that few of the titles with licensing restrictions will not be downloaded by the users.
