Google to add background blur, captioning, and low-light mode to Meet video calls
According to the reports on TheVerge, the company is working on a new feature which will match its rival apps like Zoom. Like the app will now let the user add images or blur the background on the video calls. Just like the other platforms Zoom and Microsoft Teams, Google Meet will also allow the user to choose their image or choose from the default option.
The fun features coming to Google Meet app are:
- Background blur or replace the background with an image
- Real-time captioning
- Low-light mode
- hand-raising
- Join or end meetings with voice command
- 49 meeting participants at a time
These new features will be rolled out to the latest version of Meet. However, there are no details out when the features will be available for everyone.
Last month, Google combined Meet into Gmail by adding a sidebar link. It also increased a meeting limit up to 100 people without any time limits. More users are attracted to Google Meet because it has removed the time limit of free calls until 30th September.
Google Meet is competing with popular video conferencing app Zoom, from the time it made free for everyone with Google account. Zoom app has become popular as everyone needs to work from home due to Covid-19 pandemic. All the students are attending their online classes through Zoom, and officers are working from home and having meetings on Zoom. So, in this situation Zoom app has become the most popular app.
