Dropbox login (SSO): Complete Guide For Desktop and Mobile Devices

If your network admin has configured Dropbox login (SSO), you can access Dropbox the same way you would other work-related applications—by entering your SSO password on your organization’s sign-in page.

Each organization has unique employee requirements, so check with your administrator to determine how to use SSO at work. Continue reading to learn how to use the Dropbox login option with a single sign-on.

If you use Google (for example, Gmail or Google Docs), you can try Dropbox login using your Google account. Google Sign-In enables you to access Dropbox without remembering a Dropbox password.

You can use Google Sign-In to access Dropbox cloud storage on iOS, Android, or the Dropbox desktop client.

Dropbox login (SSO) Through Your Desktop Web Browser

  1. To get started, navigate to the Dropbox website.
  2. Click the “Sign in” option in the upper right-hand corner to access the login screen.
  3. If you do not see a “Dropbox login” option on your screen, click the hamburger menu and then select “Sign in.”
  4. After you enter your UMass credentials, the screen will read “Single sign-on enabled.”
  5. On the UMass Secure Access Login Page, click the “Continue” button and enter your SSO credentials. If you are already logged in to another application in the same browser, this step will be skipped.
  6. You can claim your UMass Dropbox account by logging in with your credentials.
  7. After clicking “Create an account,” you’ll be requested to download the Dropbox desktop software.
  8. If you do not desire to download the Dropbox desktop client, you can visit the Dropbox web application by selecting “or go to Dropbox on the web.”
  9. You can always download the client later. Users may be requested to enter their password again.
  10. If you have already been provisioned into a team folder or have had any folders shared with you, they will appear under Sharing on the left side panel of your Dropbox application.
  11. To add any shared folders to your Dropbox account, click the “Add” option.
  12. The folder will now display in the “My Files” section of your Dropbox application’s right side.
  13. Your account can now include a mobile device.

If you are currently signed in to your Dropbox account using the Dropbox mobile app on your mobile devices like smartphone or tablet, you do not need to be worried—the device has been counted to your account settings, and you can continue using the app without having to sign in again.

However, if you need to remove a device and replace it, you’ll need to use SSO with the app’s most recent version.

Dropbox login (SSO) Through Your phone or tablet

  1. Launch the Dropbox mobile application.
  2. I’m Already a Dropbox User Tap I’m Already a Dropbox User.
  3. Sign in to Dropbox by entering your email address and tapping Sign In.

IF it is your first time trying “Dropbox login” to your organization’s SSO website on your device, a browser window will open, prompting you to do so. Enter your email address, your SSO password (not your Dropbox password), and any additional information requested by your organization. If you have already signed in on your device, this step will be skipped.

In your browser, a page will open requesting your approval for the app to use SSO. Allow should be selected.

Complete all of the remaining/required steps in the Dropbox mobile app to add the device to your Dropbox account.

Dropbox login (SSO) Client Side Installation

To install the Dropbox desktop client, click the avatar in the upper-right corner of the screen and then click “Install.”

Access the Dropbox download; select the Download Dropbox button and follow the on-screen directions for “How to Download and Install Dropbox.”

If your administrator has disabled SSO, you can use either sign-in method. You can either sign in with your organization’s SSO password or select Log in with Dropbox login credentials to sign in with your Dropbox password.
